What does the chamber do?

"When our advice is sought; the Chamber does not hesitate to give it. When it isn't sought, the Chamber is not bashful in taking the initiative to make the common voice of business heard."

You have probably heard the question "What does the Chamber really do?" You may have wondered about it yourself. It is a legitimate question and many people - including those to whom the Chamber is very important - have no real concept of exactly what a Chamber of Commerce is or what it does. There are a lot of misconceptions about the Chamber. For example there are those who believe the Chamber gather statistics, prints nice brochures, visits new businesses, answers inquiries and promotes Leamington as a great place in which to work and live.

They are right, up to a point. We do all of these things as a matter of routine because they need doing, but theyalone are not why the Chamber is here. The primary functions of the Chamber go far deeper than these niceties. The Chamber of Commerce is a catalyst - a vehicle through which business and professional people work together for the common good of the community. A better community means better business conditions, and the chamber works for a better community for everyone. There is one prime reason for the chamber to exist, and that is to do what is necessary to keep Leamington's economy at a level where businesses will risk their resources in Leamington and district in the hope of making a profit, everything else is just a means to the end.
This means that "WE" must do the job needed.

That leaves one final question. Who is the "WE" that does all this? "WE" are "YOU"! The staff, the Chamber member, and all of your business and professional friends who are also Chamber members.

You are the Chamber of Commerce. You provide the ideas, the drive, the goals, the funds and the voluntary services to keep the Chamber doing what it does. You are the Chamber and without you, there would not be any Chamber.

Ask yourself - WHO WOULD DO ALL OF THESE THINGS IF THE CHAMBER DID NOT?
